Undergraduate Applications

Undergraduate applications are through the Faculty of Humanities. Further information on studying at UJ can be found on the Study@UJ page.

Postgraduate Applications

We offer Honours, Masters (Coursework), Masters (Research), and Doctorate courses. Applications share the following procedure.
1. Send the Co-ordinator of Postgraduate Studies in Philosophy (Prof Alex Broadbent):
(a) academic transcripts;
(b) a covering letter or other brief motivation explaining why you would like to pursue postgraduate study in philosophy;
(c) an appropriate writing sample, usually an extended essay or dissertation from your previous degree;
(d) for Research Masters and Doctoral applicants, a research proposal of 500-1000 words.
2. Complete the Application Form 2014 and submit to the University with appropriate supporting documentation.
3. You may be asked to produce a further writing sample, especially if you have not studied with us before. If so you will be advised of this.
